Role of Teacher in Minimization of Corruption
According Indian Vedas Teacher is the third God to all the peoples. In India we respect Teacher very much. They have a main role in the society. Now we are living in the technological and modern world. But we are facing some problems like Corruption, Terrorism, Poverty and High Population problem etc.My opinion education is the sollution for all types of probles. Teacher is the correct person to change the world. We know "Todays children are tomorrows citizens".Teachers have an obvious interest in fighting corruption. Corruption makes it more difficult for teachers to do their job and destroys the fundaments of good education. Teachers working in a system which is regarded as corrupt will always, even when they are not corrupt themselves, have difficulties to get that recognition needed to achieve respect and esteem in society. From this perspective, it is important for teacher organisations to explore different types of actions which can be taken in order to fight corruption. In line with the discussions above, three paths can be followed; - promoting professional ethics; - organise and support training activities; and - push for the inclusion of anti-corruption education in the curriculum.
Teachers' rights and students' rights are sometimes described as conflicting. Even if it is likely that conflicts may occur in the short-run it can be assumed that in the long-run most interests are similar. It is important to work for the establishment of democratic schools where the mechanisms exist to deal with conflicting interests and where these matters can be discussed. In order to promote this, governments must make it possible for teacher organisations and student organisations, as well as parent organisations, to actively participate in educational discussions. There must also be different mechanisms at different levels (national, regional, local and even school level) for consultations where teachers, students and parents are given an opportunity to express their views.
Recommendations: Based on the issues raised above, a set of recommendations can be made to decision-makers in the education sector. They should; - integrate and develop items on how to fight corruption in the curriculum; - integrate issues on how to fight corruption in the teaching of other subjects; - fight corruption in the education system with the aim to develop "corruption free schools"; and - include issues on how to fight corruption in the pre-service and in-service education of teachers.
A set of recommendations can also be directed to leaders of teacher unions / teacher associations. They need; - to put the fight against corruption on the agenda of their organisations; and - to support further studies to show how corruption can be abolished
